Breakout Sessions

Breakout sessions are a highlight of Handpicked! They’re a chance for us to disperse into smaller groups, and get practical about all that we’ve learned in the main session. Led by local women and filled with wisdom, opportunities for interactive discussion, and scripture-driven conversation, these sessions meet you in your current life season with truth and encouragement.

See below for details about this year’s breakout sessions. You’ll have the ability to choose your session during the registration process.

2024 Breakout Sessions

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

-Philippians 4:8

In the midst of major life transitions or decisions, it can feel as though everything is up in the air. But when we allow ourselves to be guided by the truth found in God’s Word, we have a constant source of hope; a foundation that’s solid, built upon the unchanging nature of a Savior and friend. Discover how to know, remember and abide by these truths.

  • Leaders: Amy Anderson & Donna Williams; Host: Jodi Allen

Work is an essential, inescapable part of our daily lives, and God calls us to work with diligence and integrity. But how do we work hard, while also honoring the truth that we have a Father who is our ultimate provider; one who draws us closer to him through our limitations? Explore practical ways to pursue success in a way that doesn’t destroy contentment through abiding in Christ and finding Joy in who he is.

  • Leaders: Shelly Miller & Annie Wiesman; Host: Marlene Richardson

From exercise techniques to aging well to dressing for your body type, we are constantly bombarded with messages and pressures from our beauty-obsessed culture. But in a day when self-care is all the rage, we’re called to something higher; to a perspective that considers what it means to foster a self image that’s not actually focused on ourselves, but on our Creator. Explore how, when we focus on viewing our bodies as both dwelling places and instruments to be used by the spirit, we find freedom and joy.

  • Leaders: Tina Propes & Lisa Gupton; Host: Audrey Judd

Today’s teens and students have access to more information than any other generation. They live in a digital world, and are forced to sift through constant noise and all sorts of messages, all vying for their attention. With that, it’s increasingly difficult and crucial for this generation to understand what it means to prioritize lives of purity and wisdom, built on a trust in the only thing that won’t change. This session is for students or parents of students who want to discover what it means to walk in the world without being bogged down by it.

  • Leaders: Jen Collie & Sarah Begley; Host: Morgan Cox

Parenting young kids is a wild and wonderful adventure, full of challenging moments and exhausting days. When we allow our relationships with our kids to be weighed down by the guilt that we aren’t doing enough or we aren’t living up to some unattainable idea, motherhood can feel like drowning. But when we choose instead to be mothers who are abiding in a good Father, we see the challenges of leading tiny disciples as opportunities to draw closer to him. Discover ways to parent from a place of peace, in a way that produces joy in both your heart and home.

  • Leaders: Cinda Swan & Jane Horn; Host: Palvena Pace

As women enter the empty nest seasons of their lives, many wonder about what this new and foreign chapter may hold. The kids have been launched and careers are complete, and yet, with aging parents to care for, grandchildren to help with, and other responsibilities to uphold, life can feel busy and heavy and, at times, without clear purpose. But our churches, communities and families need the wisdom of women who have lived through these seasons. We need their discipleship and their testimony of how God has walked with them every step of the way. Explore what it means to live out this chapter in a way worthy of admiration, full of purpose, pointing toward the one in whom your joy is found.
